pale.emperor, you are so not overreacting. You have the right to know where your daughter is, who she is with and that she is safe at all times. I am thinking of both physical and emotional safety. Take this up with your ex. There need to be boundaries set around efforts to indoctrinate and alienate your daughter. These people are toxic.

Similar to Dagney and NVR2L8, I knew the overlapping generation teaching was crap, and I had a moment of clarity at a Tuesday night meeting when I knew I just couldn't hear them say one more time that so many people were going to die at Armageddon (including my adult children); I knew I was done.

DF’d or DA???
by DATA-DOG inso, i think i’m going to be df’d, but elders are out of town and no decision has been officially reached.
what would happen if i sent a certified overnight letter and said that i was going to disassociate before they have their meeting??.
i know the two conditions are similar, but i’m just curious... dd.

Data-dog, it is kind of you to think of your aging parents. A few quick questions:
Is it still true that the DFd are being "disciplined by Jehovah, and "He loves those he disciplines"? In this case, wouldn't it ease their minds if there was a chance you might respond to that "love"?
Would they even know whether you DAd or were DF'd?

What would you say?

I have seen and experienced myself that getting away from indoctrination sessions for a period of time helps tremendously, then you might be able to make some inroads. With doctrine, it is not one size fits all. What is important to one person, may not matter to another at all. It almost always seems to require a real or perceived personal or family injustice to open the door.

I chose to send a letter of resignation by way of my attorney. Ultimately the same effect as DF/DA, but I took control of my life. Best thing ever to be free of this cult.

Yes, everything feels bleak and hopeless. Every year it seems harder to make it through 'til spring.

I only have contact with one active JW in her early 80's. She has admitted that she will likely die before Armageddon, but you know, "We have to stay faithful to the end." Funny thing is, she just told be, that I'm the only one who has ever been there for her, and she only trusts me to care of her when she gets sick. She knows I walked away nearly 7 years ago now. She's pretty much a fruit loop, and ignored by her congregation, but she's my fruitloop.
Something is up with Mr. Sail Away's 90-year-old Dad. He isn't listening to the elders and is listening to the son he shunned for nearly 50 years. The only comment so far was, "We don't always agree with the administration of Jehovah's organization, but that's where faith comes in."
